What We Believe

Gospel Centered

Our belief is that The Gospel is a matter of first importance for our daily lives. The Gospel is  not simply the message “By which we are saved”, but it is also the reality of faith as we live our Christian lives  by loving God and loving people.

I Corinthians 15:1-4 – John 14:16 – Acts 1:8 – Romans 8:16, 26-27

Scripture (God’s Inspired Word)

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without  error, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith  and conduct.

II Timothy 3:16 – I Peter 2:1-2 – II Peter 1:20-21

Trinity

We believe in one living and true God, creator of all things, perfect in every way, without beginning or  end, and eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and that all three of these are  equal in every diving attribute and perfection.

Genesis 1:1 – Psalm 90:1-2 – Isaiah 45:5-6, 21-22 – Acts 17:24-28 – II Corinthians 13:14

God the Father

We believe in God, the Father, the Beginning and the End, a personal Spirit, perfect in  holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of all people,  that He hears and answers prayers, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through His son  Jesus Christ.

Genesis 1:1 – Psalm 90:1-2

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the  Virgin Mary, who was sinless in His life. We also believe in His miracles and His teachings and the fact that He  gave His life for the sins of all mankind. We believe in His bodily resurrection and His ascension into Heaven,  His continuous intercession for His followers and in His personal visible return to earth as promised by the  scripture.

John 1:1-3 – Luke 1:26-27 – Romans 3:21-25 – I Corinthians 15:3-4, 20-24 – I Timothy 2:5

Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to give one conviction of  their of sin, to bring forth righteousness and judgement, and to revive, sanctify and empower all who believe  in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper,  teacher, and guide.

John 14:16 , 26 – Acts 1:8 – Romans 8:16, 26-17

Man

We believe that mankind was created in the image and likeness of God, but that through original sin  mankind fell from grace. As a result, all human beings are born with a sin nature and are under the just  judgement of God. Therefore, they can only be “saved” through belief in His Son, Jesus Christ.  Genesis 1:26 – Genesis 3 – Romans 5:12-19 – I Corinthians 15:22 – Ephesians 2:1-10

Salvation

We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received through  personal faith in Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, and whose  resurrection defeated death in order to give us a new life through salvation and the forgiveness of our sins.  We believe that those who repent of their sin and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy  Spirit, become new creatures in Christ, are freed from condemnation, and receive eternal life as God’s  Children.

John 1:12-13, 3:3-6, 3:16; 14:6 – Romans 10:9-14

Church

We believe that the Church is the body of Christ of which Jesus Christ is the Head. The members are  those who have trusted by faith in the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the Church is to glorify God as  members use their individual spiritual gifts to build up the body and make God and the “Good News of Jesus  Christ” known to a lost world

I Corinthians 12:12-14 – Ephesians 1:22, 2:19-22, 4:14-16, Acts 1:8, Matthews 28:18-20

The Christian Life

We believe that Christians are called to live for God and obey the Word through  submission to the indwelling Holy Spirt.

James 1:22

The Ordinances

We believe that there are three ordinances ordained by the Lord Jesus Christ himself – They  are baptism, Holy Communion (The Lord’s Supper), and the act of Marriage.

Matthew 28:18-20 – Acts 2:38-41, 8:12-13, 10:47 – Matthew 26:26-29 – I Corinthians 11:23-26

  • Baptism – Through the use of water as a symbol of cleansing, Baptism is an outward sign of an inward  change brought about by salvation through Jesus Christ:
    • Acts 2:38-41 – Matthew 3:11-17
  • Holy Communion (The Lord’s Supper) – The Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus Christ before His  death and resurrection to be used by His followers in remembrance of His sacrifice for the forgiveness  of our sins.
    • Matthew 26:26-28 – John 6:53-58 – Acts 2:42-46
  • Marriage – We believe that the “marriage” means only a Biblically authorized union between one man  and one woman as husband and wife. The gift of sexuality is only to take place in this union, and it is to  be for a lifetime.
    • Genesis 2:18 – Matthew 19:4-6

This Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired Word of God, is the final authority and the source of all we believe.
